Four days later still no word so I called them and when I did I was told it was the 18th of july. One week prior to the install they canceled it and I was told that because something was added to my order that changed the install date however NOTHING was added! At this time they gave me a new install date of the 25th of july and promised $10 off service for the next 6 months. Well here we are today the 24th of july and guess what they cancelled again and now they are telling me that the first available will the 15th of August.
And while he may have had a good reason for that, he didn’t clearly explain it. Vivint offers consultations with a professional who will decide what equipment you need and where. We didn’t follow the usual consultation process, but to our understanding, the consultation and professional installation are done separately. The window and door sensors worked perfectly in testing, as did the motion detectors. The system followed my rules to have lights turn on when a camera detected motion, and when a door was opened after a certain time of day I received a notification. Live video from the doorbell camera is crisp, with rich colors and sharp black-and-white night vision out to around 15 feet. The interior and exterior cameras deliver excellent day and night video as well.
Vivint told us our tech would arrive somewhere between 8 a.m. After the tech arrived, installation took another four-ish hours. In addition to its proprietary smart home devices, Vivint has quite a bit of compatibility.
He then said he would later contact me to talk about my trepidations. Needless to say, I canceled my contract and had the equipment removed. The tech did a nice job of removing the equipment and seemed to understand my issues of cost and reviews. The technician was super helpful, kind and flexible. She explained everything, even the financing part the sales people hadn't explained to me prior to the installation.
